Super2 Wing Design

I have recently completed the wing desing, have ordered my Graphlite carbon fiber for the spars, and plan to start construction the first of June, 2008.

The KRSuper2 wing will use the new KR2S wing, as recommended by krnet.org, scaled up 12.5%.  That is, it will use the 15% AS5045 airfoil at the tip, and 18% AS5048 airfoil at root. When we say wing root we mean the inboard most rib at buttline 20.5”. The stub wing will have three wing bays (and four ribs) and the outboard wing will have 2 each 24” wing bays (and three ribs) . The outboard wings will meet the inboard wing section with 3 inches clearance, two bolts at the main spar and two at the rear spar.

The wing will be detachable from the fuselage. The center wing section will be about 15.5 feet long and each outboard wing section will be about 4.5 feet long.

Wing Chord at center is 57.125” (this is imaginary as there is no rib in the wing center)
Wing Root incidence is 1 degree tip up
Wing root rib chord is 54”
Wing tip incidence is 1.5 degree tip down
Wing tip chord is 34.5”
Wing span is 24 feet

Dihedral will be the same as the KR2S

Wing Area = 93 square feet (with tips)

4.4 load factor (full aerobatic)
1.5 Safety factor (standard FAA requirement for composite aircraft)
Derate carbon fiber used in spar 50% (to increase wing stiffness and allow for builder to builder variations)

Spar Caps are 1 inch wide and back edge is at 33% chord. They will use Pultruded carbon fiber for the spar caps.

There will be electric slotted flaps and the ailerons will use push/pull tubes..

The wing will have a bent spar through the fuselage section. The wing will be contigiuous through the joint between the stub wing and the outer wing panels. The flaps will span the gap between the stub wing and the outer panels.

The fuel will be located in the stub wing in the three bays in front of the spar.

The main gear will be of a trailing link design.

Aileron trim will be performed by a servo driven trim tab in the left aileron.
